PROJECT NAME Bulkhead Coating

The Challenge

A steel bulkhead serviced by the U.S. Coast Guard in South Portland required a high-performance coating system to protect against constant saltwater exposure, tidal fluctuations, and harsh coastal conditions. These aggressive elements accelerate corrosion and structural degradation, particularly in the splash and tidal zones. The project required a durable solution that could be applied efficiently while ensuring long-term protection of critical marine infrastructure.

Why Wasser

Wasser Technologies was selected for its proven ability to protect steel structures in demanding marine environments. Wasser’s moisture-cured urethane systems offer exceptional adhesion, corrosion resistance, and the ability to cure in high-humidity and damp conditions, making them ideal for tidal zone applications. Their performance in extending the life of marine infrastructure made them a reliable choice for this project.

Wasser's Solution

Wasser provided advanced coating systems designed to form a durable, long-lasting barrier against saltwater and environmental exposure. Applied to the steel bulkhead as part of ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation efforts, the system delivered superior corrosion protection across critical exposure zones. The result is extended service life of the bulkhead and reduced maintenance requirements for infrastructure supporting U.S. Coast Guard operations.
