PROJECT NAME Shell Brunei Oil Platform coating

The Challenge

The Shell offshore platform in Brunei operates in an aggressive marine environment, with constant exposure to salt spray, high humidity, and UV. Structural steel—especially in splash zones and connection points—is highly susceptible to accelerated corrosion. The project required a coating system capable of delivering long-term protection while withstanding the demands of offshore service.

Why Wasser

Wasser systems are well-suited for offshore applications where moisture tolerance, adhesion, and durability are critical. The ability to perform in less-than-ideal environmental conditions, combined with proven corrosion resistance, made Wasser a strong fit for protecting complex structural assemblies in a remote marine setting.

Wasser's Solution

A three-coat system was applied, consisting of MC-Miozinc 100 (3.0–5.0 mils DFT) as the primer, MC-Miomastic 100 (3.0–5.0 mils DFT) as the intermediate, and MC-Shieldcoat 100 (1.0–2.0 mils DFT) as the topcoat. This system delivers a durable, high-performance barrier against corrosion, extending service life and reducing maintenance requirements in a demanding offshore environment.
