The Challenge

The Green Bank Telescope’s massive steel structure is continuously exposed to changing weather, moisture, and environmental conditions. Protecting this critical structure required a durable coating system capable of providing long-term corrosion resistance while performing reliably in an outdoor environment.

Why Wasser

Wasser’s moisture-cured urethane coatings were selected for their strong adhesion, corrosion resistance, and proven performance on structural steel. The system provided Liberty with a dependable solution designed for demanding applications where lasting protection and durability are essential.

Wasser's Solution

Liberty applied a three-coat Wasser system consisting of MC-Zinc 100 primer, MC-Miomastic 100 intermediate coat, and MC-Luster 100 topcoat. Together, the coatings provide a durable protective barrier designed to defend the telescope’s steel against corrosion and weathering.
